Role: Programmer – User Interface – Audio// Major: Computer Science
Hi there! My Name is Trever Daniels and I’m from Ortonville, Michigan. I started out at MSU majoring in Arts and Humanities and added my main major in computer science halfway through my freshman year to pursue a career in game design. By sophomore year I joined the on-campus game design club Spartasoft and in my junior year I started the game design program here at MSU. Currently I am a game programmer with my primary focus in User Interface (UI) design and implementation.
My parents could always tell that I was going to be an engineer when I grew up due to my curiosity in figuring out how things worked. While I knew I wanted to go into engineering as well, I wasn’t quite sure what path to follow until I found my passion for computer programming in my sophomore year of high school. For as long as I can remember I enjoyed playing games like the Pokémon TCG and Donkey Kong Country on the N64, but I never really thought of it as a career growing up. When I finally found my passion for computer science I learned that my favorite parts of it revolved around game design. Since then I have focused my studies around game design whenever possible and I have pursued it into college and beyond.
I currently work as a programmer in the GEL Lab and have developed several games over the past year and a half. I have had the opportunity to learn many new things about game design and work with very talented individuals that have helped me improve as a programmer. After graduating from MSU I will hopefully continue my career in the game design industry or at the very least continue to improve my skills as a UI Programmer.
