Celebrate 25 Years of Game Development at MSU

Overview
It all started in Fall 2000, when Michigan State University offered its first game development course and the student group SpartaSoft was formed!
Since then, MSU has become a national leader in game education—launching the interdisciplinary Game Design and Development minor and the Games for Entertainment and Learning (GEL) Lab in 2005, the International Conference on Meaningful Play in 2008, the Serious Games Graduate Certificate and the SPARTIE Lab in 2012, MSU’s Esports Club Association in 2016, the Games and Interactive Media major in 2020, and MSU Varsity Esports in 2023, all while Spartan faculty, students and alumni have made a lasting impact on the game industry.
Now, 25 years later, we’re celebrating a quarter-century of creativity, innovation, and Spartan-made games! Join fellow alumni, current students, faculty, and industry friends back on campus to mark this exciting milestone. Reconnect, reflect, and help us shape the future of game development at MSU.
